ECHOES IN THE WAX (© 2003) is the third CD of Dan Levinson's Roof Garden Jass Band. It contains 23 more note-for-note re-creations of the earliest jazz recordings, originally made between 1917 and 1923 by bands such as the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, the Louisiana Five, Yerkes' Novelty Five, Johnny Dunn's Original Jazz Hounds, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, Lanin's Southern Serenaders, and Ray Miller's Black and White Melody Boys - plus seven of the nine sides recorded for Edison by the Frisco Jass Band in 1917 featuring Rudy Wiedoeft on clarinet - expertly performed by Dan Levinson (clarinet and C-melody saxophone), Jon-Erik Kellso (cornet), David Sager (trombone), Tom Roberts (piano), and Kevin Dorn (drums). The Frisco Jass Band re-creations feature Jenny Scheinman on violin and John Gill on banjo. The cover art is by renowned artist Joe Busam, and the booklet includes comprehensive liner notes by celebrated author and cornetist Richard M. Sudhalter.

I happened upon Tuba Skinny and Erika L buskin’ in New Orleans on YouTube! I have Loved them ever since and play their albums daily! As a musician and band member in Canada, I can say that Tuba Skinny and their soulful renditions touched my soul in ways that have uplifted my life.
